FAQ – Gynaecology Scans

Does a Transvaginal scan hurt?

A transvaginal scan should not be painful, but it can feel slightly uncomfortable. It will feel cold, and you will feel some pressure, but it shouldn’t hurt. If the scan becomes too uncomfortable you can ask the sonographer to stop, and an abdominal scan will be performed instead.

Do I need a GP referral to have a scan?

You do not need a referral to book a scan with us. However, we can still share your scan
report and images with your GP, with your permission, if required.

Testimonials section

We came to see Anya shortly after our positive result on the pregnancy test. It was an amazing experience and we felt so comfortable with Anya. She explained what we were looking at on the screen and we came away feeling reassured.

Katie

We came to see Anya around 27 weeks and it was incredible seeing our baby again. The whole experience is so different to the scans at the hospital. Anya reassured us that everything was ok and it was so nice to come away with digital images and videos that we could play-through again and again. Would highly recommend going to see Anya who is very knowledgeable and has a caring and personal approach.
